If you’ve been to mediation or the Tenancy Tribunal to resolve an issue, you will likely have a decision. You can enforce the decision if the other person isn’t doing what it requires them to.

Your decision could be in a mediator’s order or a Tenancy Tribunal order. These orders are legally binding.

If you applied for the order, you can enforce it through the Ministry of Justice.

To enforce a mediator’s order, it must be sealed by the Tenancy Tribunal. Talk about this with the  mediator to see if your order can be sealed. An adjudicator will decide if the order can be enforced. If it can, they will seal it.

Finding an address

When you’re trying to enforce a Tenancy Tribunal order, the Ministry of Justice needs a current address for the person named on the order. If you don’t have a current address for the person, we have a service that may be able to help you find one.

An attachment order takes money from the benefits, wages or salary of the person who owes money and pays it directly to the person who is owed the money.
